TikTok to Host July Sales Event Like Amazon Prime Day

Spread the love

Everyone knows the best shopping day of the year is Black Friday, but coming in right after that is Amazon Prime Day, typically held in July. This year, TikTok is challenging that by hosting its own Amazon Prime Day-like sales day in July.

TikTok Announces “Deals for You Days”

With absolutely no mention of Amazon’s deals event in July, TikTok announced it would be having the “Deals for You Days” event in July. Even the name of the event makes it sound like TikTok is trying to provoke thoughts of Amazon Prime Day without mentioning it.

TikTok said in its announcement that “Shoppers are invited to experience a series of TikTok LIVEs.” It promised exclusive discounts, as well as bundles from various brands and creators. Mostly beauty brands are mentioned in the blog post, but it promises deals on beauty, fashion, books, and home.

While Amazon Prime Day lasts for just two days each year (July 16 and 17 this year), TikTok doesn’t mention how long its sale event will last, only that it begins on Tuesday, July 9. It’s also limited to the U.S.

In addition to the deals, TikTok Shop merchants and creators can partake in content challenges for both live and short video shopping events. They can showcase their items to their followers and interact with them.

Competition with Amazon

It should be noted that a little healthy competition is always good, but there’s no way to consider the TikTok event as anything but direct competition. It’s starting exactly one week before Amazon Prime Day.

But if any company could stand a little competition, it would be Amazon. It has a lock on online shopping. Sure, you can shop many places, but for many, Amazon is the first stop on the online shopping trip. Walmart has been chasing Amazon for some time but has yet to best the online shopping behemoth.

Rest assured that Make Tech Easier will be following the Amazon deals on Amazon Prime Day as we always do. In fact, we’re already lining up deals to showcase that week, starting the day before on July 15.
