Smartwatches free you up to stay connected without staying glued to your phone, but they’re often too fragile to keep up with active lifestyles. The Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra give you the best of both worlds: highly durable watches that keep you connected and even encourage you to be more active. I recently had the pleasure to put these two latest additions to the Kospet Ultra line to the test for this review.

Introducing Kospet M3 and T3 Ultra’s Impressive Features

These watches aren’t some cutesy, lightweight devices just for checking notifications, though they do that too. Instead, they’re military grade, meaning they’re perfect for any highly active individuals. You can wear these confidently, knowing they can keep up with anything you throw at them.

I received both the Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra, which are fairly similar with just a few minor differences. Some of the main and most impressive features include:

  • Military grade: 15 US MIL-STD-810H certifications, along with passing 28 reliable internal tests
  • 5ATM and IP69K waterproof
  • Corning Gorilla glass (hard to break or scratch)
  • Full metal body with stainless steel back cover
  • Large battery capacity of up to 15 days with light usage (M3 – 480mAh | T3 – 500mAh)
  • Over 170 sports modes with automatic recognition of six common activities
  • AMOLED screen with a 600 – 1,000 nit brightness range: easier to see outdoors and easier on the battery
  • Large screen (M3 – 1.96 inch square | T3 – 1.43 inch circle)
  • Dynamic watch faces support
  • Dual-band and six satellite positioning GPS
  • Comfortable liquid silicone band for all-day wear
  • ACTIONS ATS3085L CPU with 256 NOR memory

These are the latest upgrades. Previous models only supported 70 sports modes, with just five static watch faces and only 128 NAND memory. Battery life wasn’t quite as good, and the bands were standard silicone, which isn’t quite as comfortable.

While previous models were still great smartwatches, Kospet made the next generation even more impressive with features every active lifestyle needs.

Unboxing the Watches

The Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra come well-packaged and even include screen protectors. Each watch has:

  • Watch
  • Adjustable band
  • Wireless charging base
  • User manual
  • Screen protector

While I wish the charge base came with a USB adapter to plug into an outlet, you’ll either need to plug the charger into a USB port or use an adapter you already have.

The bands are surprisingly easy to attach, and the watches feel sturdy when you lift them. I was afraid they’d feel too heavy when I wore them, but they’re comfortable and stay in place well, even when exercising.

Setting Up The Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra

As with most devices, it’s highly recommended to charge the watches fully before the first use. But, if you’re impatient, both watches were over 60% when they arrived.

With just two buttons on each side, that aren’t easy to accidentally press, and a vivid touch screen, controlling the watches feels very intuitive. I downloaded the Kospet Fit app, which is what syncs the watches with your phone. It also lets you view synced data, such as workout times, and adjust settings without having to use the watch face to do so.

After setting up a free account, I had the Kospet Tank M3 Ultra paired to my phone. Simply swiping up/down and side to side lets you view apps, shortcuts, the notification center, and unread notifications.

The watches come with numerous built-in apps for tracking sleep, measuring your heart rate, showing the weather, breathing exercises, setting up workouts, playing music, and more.

The touchscreen does require a little more pressure than your average smartphone, but that’s to help prevent accidental taps and swipes while wearing. I found them to be a pleasure to use. I also loved being able to wake the watches just by turning my wrist.

Since you can only pair one watch at a time, I performed all my tests on the M3 before starting on the T3. However, I had the same results with both smartwatches. Mainly, it comes down to the design and screen size, as to which one you like best.

Using the Kospet Fit App

The app offers quite a bit more functionality than I was expecting. Check the weather, view your heart rate, sync sleep data, check stress levels, track various workouts and even add shortcuts to your favorites, adjust device settings, and of course, update the firmware.

After changing a few settings to keep the display on longer for testing, I tried syncing my phone’s contacts. You can sync up to 100 contacts. However, I only have 27 contacts on my phone and I could only get 19 to sync. The worst part is the ones that didn’t automatically sync are my most frequently contacted.

Kospet did show me how to manually add contacts, but it’s still disappointing that the app won’t display all available contacts for you. However, the brand promises to solve this problem through a software upgrade in mid-to-late May.

Most of the time, I had no issues with the app syncing fitness data. Usually, when I brought up the app, the data appeared within 10 to 30 seconds. Occasionally, some data didn’t sync until I closed the app and restarted the watch. Also, there were times when the watch would show one thing, such as walking 1,000 steps during a workout, versus the app showing around 900.

Another issue is the watch faces. While some are built in to the watch, you’re supposed to be able to download more via the app, but I never got a single watch face to sync to the watch from the app.

The app did have an update while I was testing. However, that didn’t help any of my issues and stopped the weather feature from working properly. It suddenly went from displaying the correct weather for my location to always showing a location over 100 miles away.

While the Kospet Fit app is easy to use, it does have some glitches that severely hold it back, especially when the watches themselves are incredible and a solid, more affordable competitor to other major brands.

Testing the Watches

The Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra have quickly become my favorite smartwatches. First of all, the bands are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. Even when they get wet, they don’t rub and stick like most other smartwatch bands.

Speaking of water, the M3 and T3 Ultra are both dive-proof. I don’t dive, so I couldn’t test that, but I did leave both in a bucket of water. While in the water, the buttons and screens worked flawlessly.

I also performed a drop test. I started around three feet and increased to six feet. No damages at all and no performance issues after.

I’ll be honest: I’m rough with watches. Most don’t last long for me. These feel like they could actually keep up with me. For those with more manual jobs, like construction, these watches are far more rugged and safer to wear than most competitors.

Outside of physical tests, both the M3 and T3 Ultra made/received calls and notifications with no problems. Of course, you may need to manually add in your contacts, or you won’t receive anything from them.

I was also impressed with how easily the watches picked up on my activities. Both watches picked up my stats for walking, running, and cycling without me having to do anything. Of course, you can always choose other sports modes to track your stats. I tried dancing, just to see, and it immediately picked up my BPM and calories burned.

While the weather hasn’t been correct since the app and firmware update during my test, I didn’t have any problems with the GPS. That seems to still be correct and working fine.

I love the battery life. I tried AOD (always on display) mode, and the watches lasted just over two days. For AOD, that’s impressive. Outside of AOD mode, I got around a week of usage with daily exercise, handling notifications, etc., before I needed to recharge.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a durable smartwatch that’s tailor-made for active lifestyles, the Kospet Tank M3 Ultra and T3 Ultra are the perfect options. The Kospet Fit app needs some more work to keep up with the watches, but Kospet is currently working on improvements.

Kospet provides a generous two-year warranty for the watch and band when purchased through Kospet. Plus, as long as the watch, band, and box are undamaged, you can return for any reason within seven days of purchase.
