1. Shop Amazon Deals
On top of most Amazon pages, you can view a link called Today’s Deals. True to its name, you get a bunch of useful merchandise at discounts. The collection is rather extensive, and includes electronics, musical instruments, headphones, clothing, and even a few grocery staples. There are also time-sensitive Lightning Deals that you can view on the homepage.
Whether you’re looking for a cellphone charger, robot vacuum, or a new baseball cap, browsing through these Amazon deals feels somewhat like hitting the local flea market. If you just started learning how to save money on Amazon, these deals give a preview of what is to come.
2. Join Amazon Prime
Every summer, Amazon hosts a special event called Amazon Prime Day. It lasts for 48 hours or more and is exclusively for Prime customers. Bargain hunters eagerly await this day. If you’re looking for a new laptop, indoor cycle, or smartwatch, and you can wait to make your purchase, Prime Day is the best time.
Outside of Prime Day, you can continue to get steep discounts by browsing for products which have a With Prime label. If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member yet, you get a 30-day free trial to start saving money on Amazon. There’s a monthly charge of $14.99/month after trial, so if you don’t use Amazon that frequently, you might want to skip Prime membership.

3. Apply Amazon Coupons
From the Today’s Deals section, you can easily find the Coupons area just below it. There, you’ll discover a wide range of products. When you click on a product, you can instantly apply a discount that will show up during checkout. Or just look for products having a With Coupon label next to them.
Although not all Amazon products have coupons, you can easily find them in any category by using the right filters. And if you’re using the Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft Shopping adds extra discounts when you add items to your cart.

4. Buy from Amazon Outlet
For savvy shoppers, here’s a tip: Sometimes online stores end up with excess stock. To clear it out, they offer great deals. On Amazon, there’s a special section called Amazon Outlet where you can find these overstock items. Just head to the Today’s Deals section and click on Outlet in the secondary navigation.
If you want to buy products in large quantities, the outlet items are excellent because they offer additional discounts. To find out if the products you’re interested in are popular, look for a description that shows the number of items purchased last month. This way, you’ll also have more reviews to help you make your decision.
5. Purchase from Amazon Resale (Formerly Amazon Warehouse)
When shopping on Amazon, you can choose between new and used items. If you’re okay with buying used products, you can find great bargains. Each item’s condition is labeled, such as “very good,” based on Amazon’s criteria.
To explore pre-loved products, go to Today’s Deals and click on Amazon Resale This section is especially helpful for electronic appliances, unlocked cell phones, phone cases, and other gadgets.

6. Use Points
Before you complete your purchase on Amazon, right before the checkout page, you’ll find various ways to pay. These options are connected to your reward program and credit card. Look for a section called Your available balance to see if you have any points to redeem. This can include gift cards, vouchers, and promotional codes.
If Amazon suggests applying for an Amazon credit card, and you get approved, you’ll receive significant instant discounts on your purchases. If a big expense isn’t manageable upfront, Amazon offers an option called Pay Over Time with Affirm. With this, you can pay in easy installments. The minimum value for these installment-based purchases is $50.
7. Choose Different Colors of the Same Product
For certain products, you can easily save money by choosing a different color of the product. Usually, the more colorful the product, the more expensive it is. This is especially true for limited edition products with some exotic colors, particularly for products in fashion and clothing categories.
The price difference can be significant – sometimes hundreds of dollars. Take Nike’s Air Jordans, for example. Some consumers pay extra for bold, metallic colors, but you can get the same product in a different color for far less.

8. Opt for No-Rush Shipping
When you shop on Amazon, choose free no-rush shipping if you’re not in a hurry. This helps Amazon prioritize urgent orders. In return, they offer discounts or rewards later. This way, you can save a lot of money on non-urgent Amazon orders. Most of these perks require an Amazon Prime membership, but non-Prime customers can still get instant discounts
The same rules apply for choosing between “free” and “fastest” deliveries on individual product pages. If you can wait just a few more days, going for a free delivery can save you a substantial amount on shipping costs.
9. Take Advantage of Subscribe & Save
When you regularly need essential products, Amazon offers instant discounts through the Subscribe & Save feature on product pages. It’s fee-free, and you can cancel anytime. Payments are deducted based on your convenience.
This is a great way to get some good savings on your monthly groceries, toilet paper rolls, pet food supplies, pharmacy products, and other perishables. Apart from credit cards, you can also use a personal checking account (US only) or an Amazon store card for this recurring purchase.
10. Use the Amazon Trade-In Program
Got any used items lying around? Amazon lets you trade them in for hefty discounts on the latest upgrades. This applies not only to Amazon’s own products like Echo devices but also other smart gadgets. Think Apple, Samsung, Google smartphones, Xbox, Nintendo, PlayStation, and various accessories. It’s the best way to save money on Amazon using your current merchandise
Apart from them, brands like Bose, Sony, Arlo, Foscam, NETGEAR, and ASUS are also part of the deal. Once you pick a rebate (starting at 20%), your discount depends on the item’s condition. Plus, shipping is free via UPS, and Amazon handles it right from your doorstep.
11. Use Amazon Price Tracking Tools
Here is another way to get the best Amazon deal, although it requires the use of third-party tools. This is really useful if you can afford to wait a few days for a purchase or want to ensure that a current deal is the best. You can browse for these great deals using a price-comparison tool.
Some of the best tools for this purpose are CamelCamelCamel and Keepa. Within Amazon website, there is another hack you can use. It helps you unlock deeply hidden discounted products. When you’re searching for a product, simply add the text &pct-off=%-% after the URL of a category to see all the products that are offering the percentage discount you need.
